This educational software was created to support the teaching of mathematics.
Learn with M.E. (Math Educator) is an educational software that provides different levels of difficulty in the form of addition, subtraction, multiplication, division and parentheses problems. The software assesses student results and continuously archives student progress.
The software is designed to facilitate the production of personalised learning materials. By this is meant that during the calculation, the software tries to find out what might be causing the students’ weaknesses and shares the conclusions with both the student and the teacher. The student can also use the software to practice and do theoretical revision. The tutor can clearly see what the student’s weaknesses are from the archive for each student, and can produce personalised exercises and tests accordingly.
Why is it important?
Primary school mathematics is essential for the development of children’s logical thinking. The correct acquisition of basic operations is crucial for the whole mathematical education. Addition, subtraction, multiplication and division form the basis for solving mathematical problems and are often used in our everyday lives. Their proper mastery will enable students to understand how mathematical problems and formulas work, which will enable them to solve different mathematical problems more efficiently and accurately.
Operation symbols indicate what operation to perform on numbers and in what order to perform it. Incorrect marking of basic operations or their reversal can lead to incorrect solutions to mathematical problems. For example, if an operation of addition or multiplication is incorrectly marked, the result of the operation will also be incorrect. If a subtraction or division is incorrectly marked, the result of the operation will also be incorrect.
Another common error is ignoring the priority of the calculation. If the order of the basic operations is not respected or they are wrongly marked, the final result may also be incorrect. For example, if operations are not performed in the correct order, the result may be different from the correct result. The order of calculation determines the order in which each operation is performed, and if students do not understand the rules for these operations, the subsequent higher level tasks may become more difficult. Students who master this knowledge will later find it easier to understand algebraic expressions and other more complex mathematical problems. This is why the correct use of operation symbols and correct sequencing are key to solving mathematical problems correctly.
